1. Using Natural Oils as a Moisturizer

Natural oils, such as coconut and kukui, are known for their healing and deep moisturizing benefits. Some celebrities have sworn by these oils, preferring to use them to moisturize with instead of the usual creams and products.

Oscar-winning actresses Lupita Nyong’o and Cate Blanchett are fans of using natural oils on their faces. Lupita told Glamour that she uses avocado oil and kukui oil on her face – both of which are extremely moisturizing and excellent for softening wrinkles. Cate told British InStyle magazine that she uses olive and macadamia oils. She turns them into a homemade facial scrub with grapefruit juice and sea salt.

2. Spraying Rosewater on Your Face

Rosewater is a fragrant substance which is often used as a perfume, but it’s also known to have many beauty and medicinal benefits as it contains many powerful antioxidants. These antioxidants protect skin cells from damage, helping you look more youthful and radiant. Rosewater also has anti-inflammatory properties help to soothe skin irritation and redness.

Actress Halle Berry told InStyle.com that she sprays rosewater onto her face to keep her complexion looking dewy and fresh. She said: “I feel like it just makes me look more youthful, alive and fresh”.

3. Remove Impurities with a Steam Facial

Giving yourself a steam facial helps to remove impurities from the skin, such as dirt and bacteria from the pores. This allows your skin to be cleansed gently and naturally, leaving you with a soft, glowing complexion. A steam facial is an excellent first step in a beauty routine and be followed by a scrub, cleanser or moisturizer.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr told British Grazia that a homemade steam bath is part of her weekly skincare routine. She fills a basin with freshly boiled water, adds a green tea bag, covers her head in a towel and places it over the basin for a few minutes. This helps to open the pores and draw out any impurities.

4. Exfoliate with a Coffee Body Scrub

For many of us, coffee is the hero of our morning routine. But it’s not just a drink that can perk us up in the AM and transform us into fully functioning members of society. It’s also said to be an excellent exfoliator and effective at combating cellulite. The texture of the grains help to remove dead skin, leaving the complexion smooth, while the aroma instantly uplifts mood and energy levels.

In addition, applying caffeine to the skin can stimulate blood circulation, which leaves you glowing and radiant. Singer Jessie J and actress Halle Berry have admitted to using coffee body scrubs.

5. Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a popular wellness treatment that involves exposing the body or areas of the body to subzero temperatures for short lengths of time. When the body’s exposed to these extreme temperatures (usually down to -140℃), it has the following series of physiological effects:

  • The body thinks it’s going to freeze so the fight or flight mode is activated.
  • This releases adrenaline, among other hormones, which increases blood pressure and circulation so nutrients are pumped more quickly around the body.
  • More nutrients flowing to the cells means the body can heal and replenish itself more quickly and efficiently.
  • Collagen production is stimulated which encourages the skin’s elasticity and youthfulness.

Health.com reported that actress Mandy Moore had a cryotherapy facial in preparation for the 75th Golden Globes. Combined with a series of collagen and thermal clay masks, cryotherapy helped to leave the actress with glowing, healthy skin before she stepped onto the red carpet.

She’s not the only celebrity who swears by cryotherapy to maintain a fresh, youthful appearance. Kate Hudson told StyleCaster that she regularly submerges her face into an ice bath to maintain a glowing complexion. Daniel Craig, Jennifer Aniston, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Alba are reportedly fans of cryotherapy too.
